What You Drink Matters

Don’t drink your calories! Without even realizing it, you might be ‘eating’ five or six meals a day. Soda, coffee drinks, energy drinks, smoothies, and shakes: each of these drinks has more sugar, calories, and fat than an average meal. Remember this and cut them from your diet.

Each time you have one of these you are eating an entire meal! When you drink these don’t forget, you just drank the same amount of food as you ate at Thanksgiving.

What should you drink?

Now that you’ve cut the sugary and fatty drinks from your diet, what’s left? Choose naturally flavored teas, black coffee or tea (if you need the caffeine), or water. Water is the best thing you will drink to lose that weight quickly.

Have water with every meal and snack. Don’t forget the important part, finish your water! This will not only make you full faster, it will speed your weight loss. When your body is dehydrated it will retain water. Giving your body a steady supply of water will let your body know it doesn’t need to hoard its supply.  The added bonus of tricking your stomach into thinking you are full will help you shed pounds faster.

Diet Soda

Do not drink ‘diet’ soda. Your body can’t tell the difference between fake and real sugar. It reacts the same way it would to sugared drinks. They make you even hungrier and encourage your body to store fat. If you must have a sweet drink, make sure the label says ‘naturally flavored’. Only drink these in extreme moderation.

What You Need to Eat

Good foods, Bad foods. You’ve heard these words before, but they really do make a difference! The more processed the food is the faster your body turns it into fat. To lose weight quickly start eating more whole foods. It takes more energy to digest them. This means that your body will store less fat and burn more when you eat.

Know Your Bad Foods

Foods that are highly processed or deep fried will cause you to gain weight. By cutting them from your diet you will soon see a difference as the pounds melt away.

Eating food with little or no nutritional value is almost as bad as starving yourself. You feel full and satisfied, but your body is starving for the vary things it needs to keep you alive. Your body holds onto whatever it can and tells you it is hungry because it is. When eating food with little value your body needs more to function. It becomes a horrible cycle of hunger, but you can break it.

Learn to Eat Good Foods

There are more healthy and delicious foods today than ever before! Eating right doesn’t mean giving up good food.

Introduce more vegetables and fruits to your diet. Start losing weight now by making half of each meal you eat either a fruit or vegetable. Not only can you get these year round, they are delicious.

Keep Your Body Satisfied

Protein is an important part of any diet. Choose meats and proteins that will fuel your body and encourage weight loss. Good choices include leaner meats that haven’t been fried. Eat more fish, turkey, chicken. If you’re looking for a more vegetarian friendly options try tofu, eggs, and nuts.

Whole Grains are filling and nutritious. The less processed your grains, the more work your body does to digest them. Focus on oatmeal, brown or whole grain rice, or quinoa. These grains help speed your weight loss and improve your overall health.

Learn to Spot Bad Foods

If you food looks like a cartoonist drew it, it’s probably not good for you. When you’re on the go, look for foods that still resemble the produce they were made from.

Not everything you eat needs to be nutritionally dense, but it needs to have value. The more you eat nutritional food, the less your body fights to keep you alive. It begins to burn off fat stores that are no longer needed. You’ll have more energy and in turn you’ll move and be more active. This will cause you to burn even more fat off. And when you get hungry you’ll remember to….

Always Have a Healthy Snack

Keeping a healthy snack with you can prevent poor choices when the cravings hit. Here’s the big secret that no one wants to tell you – if you do everything right to lose weight you are going to get hungry. When you are hungry, don’t punish yourself. This is the time to eat, but eat right. At first you may need more filling foods like bananas, popcorn, pitas and peanut-butter. Don’t worry, as you lose weight you’ll find that smaller snacks will satisfy you.

Meal Replacements

Shakes, smoothies, and protein bars offer a quick way to lose weight. Do not have more than two replacement meals a day and you can see dramatic weight loss. Just remember, that bar or shake count as a full meal.
